Motivated Nutrition is a company focusing on the education and encouragement of an active lifestyle and nutrition awareness for movers of all ages.
Joanie holds a B.A in dance from Slippery Rock University and is a certified holistic health coach through the Institute of Integrated Nutrition. She is Board Certified through the American Association of Drugless Practioners (AADP), a certified Pilates instructor, TRX trainer, professional dancer, home organizer and an all-around busy, motivated woman in New York City.
She teaches various dance, health and fitness workshops for adults and children throughout NYC and has been an inspiring teacher of movement and exercise for 8 years. She believes in everyone’s right to live an active, healthy lifestyle and enjoys educating others to obtain optimal wellness through movement, fun and nutrition!

Brussels Sprouts and Sand Boxes
Growing up with parents who were stern about sitting at the table until you "cleaned your plate", turned me into a grown-up who continues to clean her plate. I'm not promoting the tactic of forcing your child to gaze longingly out the window for hours with a plate full of Brussels sprouts while his or her friends play outside. However, this old school tactic did teach me to appreciate a diverse range of foods and give them all a fair try. (Rarely do I revert back to hiding "unlikeables" in my water glass.)
As a happy vegetarian that now loves Brussels sprouts, I can openly admit that I used to think they were the worlds worst torture, not only for me but for my parents as well. I was an overly active child with a restless creative spirit. If I was playing inside, chaos was sure to ensue. They couldn't wait for me to return to our backyard playground of pine trees, rope swings, and my beloved sandbox. Little did they realize that force feeeding me leafy green vegetables was only giving me more energy!
Food is our fuel. The healthier we eat, the happier we play.
